Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 May 2026

These Terms govern your use of ScamStop. By creating an account or submitting content, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older and legally capable of entering into a contract.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

3. User-generated content

You retain ownership of what you submit but grant ScamStop a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, display, moderate and distribute it as part of the service. You confirm you have the right to share what you submit.

4. Disputes & corrections

Any person named in a report can dispute it via the in-app "Dispute" button or by emailing disputes@scamstop.co.za. Moderators review disputes against the available evidence and may remove, hide, correct, or reject the request. All decisions are recorded in an append-only audit log.

5. No professional advice

ScamStop surfaces community signals and AI-generated risk scores. These are not a substitute for legal, financial, or professional advice and should not be the sole basis for accusing or transacting with anyone. Always do your own checks.

6. Subscriptions & payments

Paid plans are billed via PayFast on the cycle shown at checkout. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; access continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds follow the South African Consumer Protection Act and our published refund policy.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, including repeated false reports or harassment. You can delete your account from your profile page; some content (e.g. moderator audit records) may be retained as required by law.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScamStop is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for losses arising from reliance on community reports, AI scoring, or service downtime. Nothing limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of South Africa, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights.
